Various – Made In The Usa (DVD)
This DVD does not pretend to be the be all and end all of american music, it’s merely a toe in the water to showcase some of the great music coming out of the USA during to 70s and 80s. And yes, we are aware Cream is not an American band, but we have included it anyway, as the composer of that track was a well-known American blues musician, who sold his soul to the devil –Â
Mr. Robert Johnson.
There are many highlights on this DVD – lots of hair, lots of facial hair, very tight satin and leather trousers stretched to within an inch of its life. Keep an eye out for the audience participation on some of these clips – the most amazing one must go to Chuck Berry whilst performing Mabeline – captured in Belgium, the audience are sitting neatly in their designated chairs with the gentlemen all in their suits, white shirts and ties and the ladies dressed just so, some with their pearls and high heels and stocking – and not one of them is moving an inch or tap their feet whilst Chuck rips into Mabeline. Amazing footage.
Take a look back to when the music industry was going through its most creative and exciting times – some of the clips are old and the sound isn’t the best, but they have been included as they deserve a place in the American music history – and oh, don’t start us on the great lip synching you will see on some the clips. Clearly the artists in question must have been singing a totally different song!
