2023 is the 10th anniversary of Ludovico Einaudi’s most popular album, In A Time Lapse.
Having been described as minimalist, alt-classical, ambient and contemporary, this album defies easy classification while conveying Einaudi’s reflection on time, a universal truth: “When you are conscious that our time is limited, you try to fill that space with all your energy and emotions and start to imagine beyond the limits and live every moment of your life as fully as when you were a child.”Â
Building on the success of previous album Nightbook and integrating more instrumentation than ever before, Einaudi fully embraced the range of possibilities this provided him. From delicate tracks including Waterways and the haunting Underwood through to Life, Experience and Newton’s Cradle where the larger ensemble is used to its full effect.

Violinist Daniel Hope lends his talents to many tracks on the album and is featured on Experience, the song that has gone on to become Einaudi’s best most popular track. Featuring as the finale to most of his live shows, the soundtrack to many ads and films, and having experienced a resurgence on TikTok, it has truly enthralled existing audiences and found new ones worldwide.
