Dichotomy (Vinyl)
Electronic trailblazers SLUMBERJACK have been looked to as innovators of the Australian dance scene for the better part of the past decade, earmarked for success since their inception in 2014. With a stunning array of EPs including the ARIA gold-certified self-titled ‘SLUMBERJACK’, 2017’s ‘Fracture’—an EP which featured a Gold record and led to their first headline tour, 2019 EP ‘SARAWAK’ and 2020’s ‘Black & Blue,’ the duo have steadily evolved into one of the nation’s most awe-inspiring producers and live acts.
Now the industry-respected pair present a career-defining moment, with the release of their debut album ‘DICHOTOMY’, a culmination of a near-decade of technical growth and an indication of the sonic direction SLUMBERJACK looks to take for the future.
As the album title aptly suggests, the 12 track album is a multifaceted body of work, showcasing the versatile and enigmatic bass production that SLUMBERJACK have refined over the years. ‘DICHOTOMY’ looks to explore the juxtaposition between their heavy, club-ready sound alongside their more melodic, emotive leanings. They meticulously shine light on these contrasts throughout their production and how different ends of the sonic spectrum can evoke a range of emotional attachment. The ‘DICHOTOMY’ album showcases the evolution of SLUMBERJACK and their wealth of production knowledge and technical aptitude, converging sounds, textures, and styles that wouldn’t normally coexist.
