Afterlife (Vinyl)
“Afterlife” is the debut album from Ex-Olympian.
What comes after? What’s over the horizon? After playing in and writing songs for bands, large in number, for what seems like a lifetime… Ex-Olympian is the new vessel for Liam (McGorry, exSaskwatch, Dorsal Fin) to navigate the world of solo music.
VIMH is Liam’s lead vocal debut. A song about scrambling to process many different thoughts and issues of Today’s World at once… from a 24 hr News Cycle, Climate Anxiety and Social Media Envy, to Paranoia, Doubt and Over-Indulgence… finding ways to cut through the noise and to be yourself.
Lilac Youth is a meditation on the dangers of losing yourself in nostalgia and ego, and of misremembering past glories, instead of focusing on what’s in front of you. Friend Nkechi Anele (also of Saskwatch) sang and co-wrote the song with Liam, and side by side with VIMH provides a nice vignette where the past and future, combine in the present.
“Nkechi has been my voice for an age, singing and collaborating on my most innermost thoughts, it’s very special that after such a long time we can still connect and collaborate in new ways after all this time.” – Liam
