Bach – Cello Suites
Johann Sebastian Bach wrote his six Suites for unaccompanied cello at Cöthen, about the year 1720. Despite the passage of nearly three centuries, these six works remain the ultimate measure of a cellist’s musical comprehension, technical facility and interpretive acumen. Proclaimed by Mstislav Rostropovich as ‘the best cellist I have heard since Jacqueline du Pré’, Maria Kliegel possesses the rare combination of stated talents that enliven these Baroque masterworks.
