The Irish Songbook
When the idea of recording a second album that paid homage to my heritage, my answer was a very easy yes. I’ve always loved Irish music – the sentiment, the melodies, and the storytelling.
My father was born in Bunnoe in County Cavan and my grandmother on my mother’s side was a great lover of Celtic musicians. Her house was always filled with music by the Dubliners, Paddy Reilly, the Clancy Brothers & Jim Mcann. As a child, I can vividly remember sitting on the floor of my Aunty Marrie’s house listening to Mary Black, Daniel O’Donnell, and Christie Moore. Car trips were accompanied by the Pogues, Mary O’Hara, and Luca Bloom.
This album is a collection of my favourite Irish songs. Words and melodies that have resonated with me for years. I hope you love listening to it as much as I loved making it.
